Earlier this month Virgin Media had started a huge marketing campaign for its relaunched ADSL broadband service, claiming to provide speeds of up to 20 Mbps and phone lines on rent (broadband phone). The new services targeted areas where Virgin Media has no presence through its cable network.

However, the company was not prepared for excessive requests for the new service and fell short of the modem kit necessary for new broadband connections. The company accepted before a news site, The Register, that it was having trouble fulfilling all the orders and had fallen short on the supply of the modem kit.

A Virgin Media spokesperson told The Register that after the company relaunched its National services with rental phone lines and Best Speed Promise, it found it hard to keep up with the number of ADSL broadband orders, resulting in delay to reach all the customers. He, however, added that the modem kit supply was now good enough to fulfil all the orders very soon. He also apologized to customers on the behalf of the company, for having to wait for their connections.

The news site could not ascertain if the company would compensate subscribers for the delay in their connections by waiving off the activation fee of 30 pounds.
