The Secret Health Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin at 7:56 pm on Friday, January 30, 2009

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) has been used for thousands of years for a variety of healing purposes. In fact, there are references to it in the Bible as a powerful healing agent. ACV contains a perfect balance of 19 vital minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sulfur, potassium, chlorine, sodium, iron, fluorine and silicon to name a few.

In addition to the minerals, it also contains 93 different healthy components that can even help your body regulate blood pressure and support your immune system. It also acts as a natural germ fighter as well as a powerful cleansing agent.

ACV also has some great external benefits as well. Not only does it maintain healthy skin, it also soothes sunburn and prevents dandruff. Researchers claim it can prevent baldness if used as a topical solution as opposed to being ingested. One of the most sought after qualities of ACV today are for it’s weight loss properties.

Studies have shown that the nutrients, enzymes, and organic acids found in ACV act as a weight loss component by safely suppressing the appetite and increasing the body’s metabolic rate.

There are some weight loss suppliers that have formulated an all natural weight loss supplement that contains a careful mixture of ACV that can be taken daily.

The one supplier I have found to be extremely helpful in understanding the benefits of ACV and all natural weight loss remedies can be found at www.NaturalDietSystems.com.

Obesity Prevention for All

Filed under: Aid, Health Parlor — admin at 7:08 pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Obesity prevention will help prevent hundreds of thousands of deaths every year. Obesity prevention is just as important in children as it is in teens and adults. Obesity does not happen overnight. Thus, obesity prevention is not as difficult as the media sometimes makes it out to be.

The first step in obesity prevention is daily exercise. The mistake that many people make, however, as far as exercise, is believing that housework should count as exercise. As a result, they don’t bother working out at any gym or participating in any aerobics classes, because they believe housework is all they need. But you can put a chokehold on obesity prevention by making daily visits, or at least five times weekly, to a gym and spending a good hour workout out hard.

A body that’s kept in rigorous motion will not “want” to become obese. Furthermore, rigorous, dynamic exercise that hits all major muscle groups, and incorporates both aerobics and weight training, will 1) speed up resting metabolism, 2) suppress appetite, and 3) discourage emotional eating, because after a great workout, you’ll feel more motivated to stick to healthy eating.

Obesity prevention starts with walking briskly whenever you have to walk, even around the house. Eat breakfast every day to jumpstart metabolism and control hunger urges later on. Where a pedometer to make sure you have walked at least 5,000 steps in any given day. Don’t let long periods of time slip by between meals. This has a tendency to slow metabolism. Eat five to seven little meals every day to keep metabolism burning and hunger controlled.

If you find you are overeating, keep a journal to discover what triggers unnecessary snacking or bingeing. A journal will help you identify environments that cause you to eat too much.

For obesity prevention, strive to stick to a diet that is plant-based, light on the red meat, heavy on the fruits and vegetables, and very restrictive on the white sugar. Avoid diet sodas: They can increase hunger.

Stammering Or Stuttering

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin at 2:45 am on Sunday, January 25, 2009

Stammering or as it is sometimes known as stuttering is a form of speech impediment.

My name is Stephen Hill and I had a stammer for eighteen years. I went to various types of speech therapy which even though was of some use, never really offered me any hope of a “cure”.

At the age of twenty two, after a lot of hard work I managed to overcome the stammer and I now help other people to achieve fluency.

These are the types of situation that I found that I was most likely to stammer:

Ordering food and drink at a bar
Phone calls
Introducing people
Meeting new people
Talking when under pressure
Talking when tired or stressed

On my first day at senior school, all of the first year pupils were shown to their form room, including myself.
The teacher, who was to be our form teacher, introduced himself and welcomed us to the school.

He then said
“OK class, I have introduced myself. I don’t know any of you in here and most of you won’t know each other. So what I would like you first of all to do, is to stand up and tell me your name and which junior school you used to attend.”

He asked somebody on the front row to start, but because I was hiding at the back of the room, I would end up being one of the last people to speak. This was not a good thing as it meant I had a lot of time to worry about it.
When my time arrived to speak, I could not even get one word out, it was most humiliating.

This is one of many bad days I had during the time when stammering was ruining my life.

Stephen Hill helps people to overcome a stammer. He has a website at http://www.stuttering-help.co.uk.

More Vegetable Constipation Remedies

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin at 11:01 pm on Saturday, January 24, 2009

Here are more constipation remedies using vegetables. Use vegetables every day for good health. When you have constipation then you want to eat more vegetables and fruits than normal. After you clear your constipation, them back off from eating excess vegetables and just eat what you need to prevent constipation.

Carrots, Cabbage and Raisins

Because carrots contain fiber, they help to form a good stool and promote peristaltic action. By combining carrots with cabbage and raisins, you can create an even more powerful food that will help in relieving constipation. Combine the following vegetables to form an evening salad:

* Chopped carrots

* Shredded cabbage (raw or slightly steamed)

* Romaine lettuce

* Cauliflower

* Cucumbers

* A handful raisins

* Sprinkle a tablespoon of grounded flax seeds

* Mix in 1 - 2 tablespoons of olive oil or more

* Mix in 1 tablespoon of flax seed oil

* Mix in 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar or more

* One tablespoon of lecithin granules

Eat this salad once or twice a day for three days. After that you should continue to eat a vegetable salad for lunch or dinner. Make sure to drink plenty of water when eating more fiber.

Carrot and Spinach Juice

Combine 10 oz of carrot and 6 oz of spinach juice. Drink two pints daily. Both these vegetables have nutrients to help relieve your constipation.

Cucumber

Cucumbers are good for preventing constipation. But they can be used in the carrot-spinach juice or the apple-spinach juice. Cucumbers make these juices more powerful. Use only about - of a cucumber when adding it to these juices. You can experiment with how much cucumber you want to add.

Cucumbers are a natural diuretic and help to dissolve kidney stones. Because they are high in potassium, they help to promote the flexibility of colon cells. This helps to keep your colon working, as it should.

Cabbage and Asparagus

Cabbage is high in fiber and contains a good amount of potassium, foliate, beta-carotene and many other nutrients - bioflavonoids, indoles, genistein, monoterpenes. It is these various chemicals that give it its potent ability to reduce or prevent colon cancer and heal various ulcers along the gastrointestinal tract.

Cabbage is anti-bacterial and helps to heal tissues in the stomach, intestines, and colon.

Drinking cabbage juice produces intestinal gas. This gas occurs when cabbage juices combine with putrefied layers in the intestines and colon.

Use little or no salt on any preparation of cabbage. Salt destroys the nutritional value of cabbage.

There are many forms of cabbage you can use for your juices - green, red, savoy, bok choy Asparagus. Asparagus are also high in fiber. They also provide foliate and vitamins A and C. Refrigerate asparagus quickly if you are not going to use them and keep them for 3 days or less. Asparagus that have not been refrigerated lose their nutritional value quickly.

People with gout should not eat asparagus since they contain purines that can start a gout attack.

Steam your cabbage and asparagus with a slight amount of water for 3-4 minutes or less. Eat just before going to bed and take some digestive enzymes to help digest this food.

Fixing it with Hypnosis

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin at 5:22 am on Saturday, January 24, 2009

There are many fears and misunderstandings about the use of hypnosis and hypnotherapy, and the myths and mystery that surround it are totally undeserved. This page will help you to understand the enormous life-enhancing potential of this ancient therapy.

It is used on a daily basis in literally millions of therapists offices around the world, working with all sorts of ‘human conditions’, including:

- Personal matters
- Emotional difficulties
- Psychological problems
- Many Physical problems
- Performance enhancement
- Sporting improvement
- Habit control
- Weight control
- Sleeping difficulties
- Relationship problems

Hypnosis and hypnotherapy has been around for probably more than 5000 years; it is now being recognised as a safe and effective tool to assist with a great many issues - in fact, is has been accepted by the British Medical Association as a valuable treatment methodology since 1955.

I am often asked how safe it is - well, I have conducted over 24,000 sessions in my career so far and have taught self hypnosis to hundreds of people. Nobody has complained yet… While it’s certainly not a ‘once size fits all’ type of therapy, it can help with a huge number of problems.

You can attend a practitioners office, or you can learn to hypnotise yourself - either way it’s totally safe. We’ll have a look at both methods - self hypnosis first.

Self Hypnosis

Self hypnosis is used on a daily basis by sportsmen and musicians, business people and artists, housewives, policemen, engineers, shop assistants… in fact it’s used by millions of people from all walks of life all over the globe!

Let’s dispel a few of the anxieties that some visitors might have… the following ‘rules’ are applicable to all types of hypnosis:

- You cannot ‘get stuck’ - this is quite impossible
- You do not become unconscious or go to sleep
- You know what’s happening at all times
- You can exit the state whenever you wish to
- You cannot ‘lose your mind’
- It is not connected in any shape or form with the occult
- There is no such thing as a ‘hypnotised feeling’
- It is actually a totally natural state which we all go into several times a day
- It is very similar to meditation or relaxation techniques
- IT IS COMPLETELY SAFE!

Getting into a state of self-hypnosis is a specific skill and as with all skills, some people are better at it than others. It is fair to say, though, that almost everybody can benefit from learning how to use it. Among other things, you can help yourself to:

- Lose weight
- Quit smoking
- Improve sporting and other performance
- Increase concentration and recall
- Improve confidence and self-confidence
- Work with motivation issues

As mentioned earlier, it is a specific skill and one which needs to be learned. There are many books on the subject and there are also free lessons available from some websites on the subject.

Professional Hypnosis

Although self hypnosis can sometimes be effective, it is fair to say that one-to-one sessions with a professional therapist will almost always provide better results. Although some people feel nervous about taking this step, it is an astonishingly relaxing experience for most - one of the ’side effects’ is often a dramatic lowering of stress levels.

The therapist’s voice…

Hypnosis is usually induced by the use of the therapist’s voice, though you are unlikely to actually feel hypnotised. There is no such thing as a ‘hypnotised feeling’, though many people find their senses to be far more alert than usual - you will certainly not ‘lose control’ at any time, nor can you be manipulated in any way.

There is no form of unconsciousness and nobody can be made to do anything that they do not want to do; a person in hypnosis is aware of everything happening around them, aware of themselves and their therapist, and will normally retain a full and accurate memory of everything afterwards.

Hypnosis, a totally natural phenomenon, is simply a very comfortable and relaxed state during which it is quite easy to converse sensibly with the therapist, although not all styles of hypnotherapy employ this technique. And here is something that may surprise you - whilst almost anybody can enter the state of hypnosis, the strongest minds do it best! To be unhypnotisable is an indicator of some sort of difficulty with focussing the mental processes and is actually extremely rare.

The Therapy

Hypnosis itself is unlikely to provide a relief of symptoms, whatever those symptoms might be. It is the therapy - hypnotherapy - which is carried out within the hypnotised state that is important. It takes two entirely different forms.

Suggestion Therapy

This form of treatment is ideal for helping to cope with such things as examination fears, driving test nerves, smoking, nailbiting, some weight-control problems, stress, and so on. Usually, between two and four sessions are needed and some therapists will work with 2 or more people at one time, often reducing costs.

Analytical Therapy

This is sometimes used for more deep-rooted problems. The technique aims to find and remove the underlying original cause of such things as irrational fears, emotional problems, relationship difficulties, psycho-sexual problems, lack of confidence, moodiness, sleeping difficulties, stuttering/stammering, anxiety, inferiority complex, unhappiness, phobias, etc. and most other problems where there is a psychological factor at work.

The treatment period will normally be between six and twelve weekly sessions and is capable of producing a complete and lasting release from the symptom(s). It is a totally private and individual, one-to-one form of therapy, and one which, for many, is the ‘cream of therapies’.

So there you have it… if you’ve been struggling to cope with an aspect of life, or even life itself, and don’t know how to resolve your problems - give hypnosis a try. It is likely to be well worthwhile!

Terence Watts is a successful therapist, lecturer and author of hypnotherapy and self-help books. He runs his own school in the UK and has conducted more than 24,000 sessions of hypnosis and hypnotherapy since 1989. http://www.hypnosense.com is one of the biggest free hypnosis sites in the world.

Mental Health Maintenance Is Made Simple

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin at 11:43 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2009

Your mental health is often drastically improved when you use the techniques Dr. Kuhn teaches in this article. When you are able to experience this improvement, your relationships blossom, career paths open, and people find you attractive and accessible. You deserve to have fun and joy in your life - and Cliff Kuhn, M.D. will help you do that.

In the classic Frank Capra film, It’s a Wonderful Life, George Bailey’s mental health is overwhelmed by the difficulties of his life and he wishes he’d never been born. George’s guardian angel grants his wish and takes him to a grim reality as it would’ve been without him. George feels nothing when he reaches into his coat pocket to retrieve the flower his daughter, Zuzu, placed there - and that’s when George knows that his wish has come true…he’s never been born.

Wishing she had never been born, Roberta became my patient, seeking desperately to improve her mental health. Like the fictional George Bailey character, Roberta’s depression and anxiety had grown so strong as to threaten her ability to lead any semblance of a normal life. Fortunately for Roberta, she soon discovered exactly why the natural medicine of humor is one of the most powerful adjunctive treatments for improving mental health, because humor literally pours water on the fire of depression and anxiety.

Roberta is not alone. As many as 35% of all Americans suffer from depression and anxiety, the twins that make mental health elusive for millions. Your depression and anxiety is exacerbated by your seriousness - taking yourself too seriously. As we move into adulthood, we unfortunately buy into the notion that responsible and productive people must be “serious.” As we make the biggest mistake of our lives and relegate our humor nature and fun to recreational activities (if we experience fun at all), we doom ourselves to all the symptoms of the corresponding seriousness that fills the void - declining health, rising stress, increased pain, lessened energy, impaired creativity, and more.

The good news for your mental health, however, is that we know how to shrink your deadly seriousness to practically nothing and reduce almost completely the sway it holds over your health, vitality, wellness, and zest. The natural medicine of humor is an incredibly powerful resource that you already possess; you’ve only forgotten how to use it to maximum effectiveness. You will soon discover that, while not a panacea, the natural medicine of humor is a tremendous tonic for depression or anxiety and will also supercharge other treatments because it is an amazing adjunctive medicine too!

I have distilled the natural medicine of humor, through my years of medical practice, into an amazing prescription I call The Fun Factor. Based on what I learned over twenty years ago from a terminally ill fifteen-year-old patient, I created a unique set of principles I call the Fun Commandments, then forged these Commandments into my Fun Factor prescription and have been prescribing The Fun Factor with great success for years. This report will show you how to use just three of my Fun Commandments to turn your mental health around, and gain new joy, pleasure, and appreciation from your life!

Improve Your Mental Health Using My Fun Factor Prescription

Step One: Always Go the Extra Smile

The first Fun Commandment I recommend for improved mental health is: Always Go the Extra Smile. This Commandment is doubly helpfully for depression and anxiety because not only does it provide measurable emotional and physical relief, but it also is completely under your control - regardless of your circumstances. Because smiling remains totally under your control, it can be your greatest resource for using humor’s natural medicine to accelerate your mental health.

Smiling produces measurable physical benefits you can experience immediately: your stress decreases, your immunity improves, your pain and frustration tolerances increase, and your creativity soars. And guess what? You experience all these benefits even if your smile is “fake.” That’s right…forcing a smile onto your face perks up your immune system and lightens your mood just as readily as a genuine smile. Fake a smile and you’ll soon feel well enough to wear a real one!

This is great news for your proactive stance on sustainable mental health. You have an amazing amount of pre-emptive control over your mood - you can, literally, choose more energy and happiness. The key for your use of this Fun Commandment in enhancing your mental health is to start practicing right now, so that smiling becomes an entrenched, habitual method of accessing the natural medicine of humor. If you wait to smile until your mental health has taken a turn for the worse, and depression or anxiety has taken hold of you, it will not be as effective.

Step Two: Act and Interact

Smiling leads us right into the second Fun Commandment you’ll find instrumental in maintaining your mental health: Act and Interact. Humor’s natural medicine works best when we are sharing ourselves and this Commandment will teach you how to capitalize on the control you’ve taken over your physiology and mood by smiling. Acting and interacting is now easier for you to do because you’re smiling more. Not only is your mood improved, but your smile is also a pleasant invitation to other people.

My suggestion is that you solidify the power of this Commandment by setting a reasonable goal regarding the number of people you will interact with each day. These social interactions are great for your mental health, forcing you to exchange information and ideas with another person. Combined with your commitment to smiling, your interactions should be pleasant, because your heightened energy, lessened pain, and lowered stress levels are very attractive to others.

Beyond keeping you out of isolation, there is another reason why acting and interacting with the people you encounter fosters improved mental health. It allows you to avoid spiritual “flat tires.” Spiritual flat tires occur when you sidestep, or avoid, an interaction that is about to happen naturally - you duck into an office to avoid encountering someone in a hallway or you don’t answer the phone because you don’t want to talk to the person calling. This type of avoidance drains and deletes your reservoir of powerful natural energy and siphons your mental health reserves.

Have you ever noticed that it usually takes you twice as much mental and physical energy to avoid doing a job than you would have expended just doing it? It also takes twice the energy to avoid acting and interacting with the people who cross your path because you are, in effect, saying, “I’m going to correct the mistake that nature made by putting this person in my path and I’m going to correct it by being mentally and spiritually negligent.” Mental and spiritual negligence have the same effect as physical negligence (isn’t it strange how you get tired if you don’t exercise?). If your mental health can afford to allow this much energy to be drained, then you have a much bigger reservoir than I!

But spiritual flat tires do more than drain our energy, they are detrimental in at least two additional ways:

We miss out on an interaction with a teacher. If nature didn’t have a lesson for you, that person you just avoided would not have been placed in your path. You say that the person you just avoided was a negative influence or would’ve wasted your time? I know we have legitimate schedules to keep, but if I am avoiding people based on my prejudgment of them, I’m cutting myself off from my greatest teachers - those very same people.
We all learn tolerance from the intolerant, patience from the impatient, temperance from the intemperate, gentleness from the ruffian, etc. I am supremely grateful for those teachers and the lessons they give me.

We create a small, nagging spiritual void of dishonesty, the kind of dishonesty that keeps us from laying our heads down with complete peace of mind each night. Our spiritual flat tire is caused by the pothole our avoidance created; it is a natural consequence, or symptom, of our spiritual dishonesty. These consequences clutter our lives with mental and emotional baggage that further drains us of our energy and vitality.

Step Three: Celebrate Everything

The third Fun Commandment which will help you use the natural medicine of humor to charge up your mental health is: Celebrate Everything. Celebrating everything may sound like a monumental task to someone who’s mental health isn’t up to par, but you will find this part of my doctor’s orders much easier to fulfill once you start practicing my first two Commandments. In fact, celebrating everything is more than a maintenance step providing sustainable mental health. It will also become your lifestyle, the more you practice it, because you will enjoy the results so much.

How do you celebrate everything and how will this keep your mental health on the upswing? The epitome of this Commandment is found in the old joke about the boy who wanted a pony for his birthday. Instead, he found a room full of manure waiting for him. But he dove right into the dung, gleefully exclaiming, “With all this manure, there’s got to be a pony in here somewhere!”

Laugh as we might, we’re quick to remember that, as adults, we would never allow ourselves such “naive” enthusiasm. Why not? Do you realize what is behind such a “grown up,” “mature” decision? Your deadly seriousness (taking yourself too seriously) encourages the attitude that a mature adult should not let herself be so optimistic and thus mental health is jeopardized.

We could do more than chuckle at this birthday boy’s unabashed optimism - we should emulate it! When was the last time you encountered an unexpected pile of manure in your life? You had absolutely no control over the mess, right? But you had absolute control over your reaction to it and this is the key to using celebration to keep your mental health improved!

When you celebrate everything, the natural medicine of humor creates spiritual, emotional, and mental health like nothing you’ve felt before. You will find that your fears become much less controlling when you are celebrating everything because it no longer matters so much how things turn out. In fact, you are literally ready for anything because you are prepared to find the blessing in whatever happens.

My daughter-in-law, for example, broke her back last year. My son, who is often my model for the embodiment of my Fun Commandments, can tick off a laundry list of blessings his family has received as a direct result of his wife’s “tragedy.” Not that his mental health hasn’t been challenged, but faced with the choice of depression and anxiety over an event he couldn’t control versus finding the blessings waiting for him, he has chosen the latter.

The choice to celebrate everything is not a panacea; my son’s choice did not change the reality of his wife’s injury. What did change, however, was his ability to respond to the injury and, thus, keep his mental health on an even keel. Celebrating everything changes our lives because it allows us to positively control the only things we have control over - our actions, ideas, and attitudes.

There you have it. Start by going the extra smile, use your newfound smiling energy and vitality to act and interact with people, and celebrate everything to maintain your positive momentum. Say good-bye to imprisonment from depression and anxiety and welcome to your new world of improved mental health!

Mark Hurd, Chief Executive Officer of Hewlett Packard, announced the company’s plan to acquire EDS as one of its strategies to bolster its foothold in the global market. Many have been surprised by the way Hurd is doing reconstruction of his company and the measures he has undertaken to save HP from the brink of a company meltdown.

What is shocking though is this recent deal with EDS.

EDS has been having a rough time keeping up with its top competitor, IBM. EDS, the world’s second largest IT services vendor, has been on a downhill slide for quite some time now, which makes an acquisition very risky business. Second, EDS has not been able to get enough deals to stay afloat with its competitors. Third, the HP-EDS deal is worth $13.9 billion. Now that is a lot of money; losing it on a deal gone wrong can be devastating to Hurd’s career as HP’s main man.

Hurd, as always, is ready with his defenses. He already knows the numbers, the risks, as well as the benefits. They buyout will double HP’s global coverage, especially in the outsourcing industry. EDS will be HP’s leverage for worldwide IT services. EDS stockholders on the other hand, think that the deal will be a good exit strategy for EDS.

Whether or not this buyout will be beneficial to both companies, only the future can tell.

Understanding More about Pain Management

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin at 6:14 am on Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Pain management is a problem with which contemporary medicine has been grappling for some time. There is nearly always a trade-off: you may not feel the pain, but you remain dependent upon chiropractic treatments, painkillers or massage, stupefied by muscle relaxants, or toxified by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) — or worse: physically impaired by neuro-surgical interventions and injections of neurotoxins that take away the natural capacities of an intact nervous system. Meanwhile, the tissue inflammation and damage to joints, no longer being reported to you by pain, continues to develop. There is an effective alternative, new and radically different from conventional approaches.

Viewpoints about Pain

Whereas nearly everyone recognizes that chronic pain is a sign of “something wrong”, modern medical science has little to offer for certain kinds of pain — notably musculo-skeletal pain and headaches. Medical science thinks almost entirely in terms of intervention — either surgical or chemical (drugs); it overlooks the body’s natural self-regulating mechanisms, which sometimes go awry and cause the pain to begin with — two examples being headaches and back pain.

This potential to change how ones body functions has to do with conditioning. Perhaps fifty percent of musculo-skeletal pain comes from an excessively tight muscles — the result of injury and prolonged stress (long term emotional tension). Muscles go into contraction during pain and stress. This state of contraction cannot effectively be controlled by drugs or countered by surgery because it has to do with a brain-level reaction. This kind of brain-level reaction is discussed in greater depth in another article.

Once this kind of reaction pattern forms, as during prolonged periods of healing, it tends to persist, sometimes for decades, unless and until the person does something deliberate to change them; these tensions do not “heal” because there is no damage. The neuromuscular system is functioning quite well, but in an aberrated way!

It is for that reason that chemical and physical interventions are ineffective: the person does not have a medical problem; they have a conditioning problem.

More Details

Let’s be more specific: How can tight muscles create pain?

Ever lifted something heavy for more than a few seconds? Don’t your muscles start to burn? Imagine what muscles must feel like when contracted 24 hours a day! And more: consider what tight muscles cause in the joints they cross: compression. Might not relentless compression cause joint pain? What about nerves trapped between tight muscles and bone: ever had a pinched nerve?

That mechanism accounts for a long list of familiar complaints: back pain, muscular pain, headaches, scoliosis, TMJ, carpal tunnel syndrome (in many cases), tennis elbow (medial epicondylitis), knee pain, foot pain, and certain other conditions.

Next question: What is the universal response to shock or injury? When you get hurt what’s the first thing that happens. You tighten up, don’t you?

Might that not explain the “pains and stiffness of aging”? — more opportunities for shock and/or injury as time passes?

So, A Conditioning Problem, Not a Medical Problem

Because of the recognized hazards of drug dependency, physicians are sometimes reluctant to prescribe even painkilling drugs and prefer to tell the patient to get used to the pain.

In extreme cases, however, the neurosurgeon steps in and cuts nerves, or the orthopedist replaces a joint (sometimes necessary and successful at alleviating pain, sometimes, not). Cortisone may be injected to reduce inflammation or botulism toxin injected to paralyze muscles. These kinds of measures often miss the point: the person is in pain because they are too tight; joints degenerated because of too much muscle-induced pressure; and muscles are too tight because the brain has become conditioned to hold them that way.

In that case, answer is not surgery or drugs; it is to change the conditioning by which a person holds themselves too tight — a process that falls more into the realm of learning than of medical intervention.

Deal With the Problem As It Is.

To change the tension level of muscles requires more than stretching or massaging; it requires a learning process that affects the brain, which controls the
muscular system. Such a learning process is referred to in some circles
as “somatic education”. Somatic education systematically uses
special movement training techniques to improve awareness and control
of the muscular system. Significant results come relatively quickly, and
when they do, the benefits are second nature and require no special attention in daily life, other than a brief, morning-refreshment routine to purge out the accumulated effects of daily stresses.

A system of sensory awareness and movement education (brain training), Hanna Somatic Education®, has been developed that restores freedom from numerous forms of musculo-skeletal and stress related pain.

An Example of Healing with HealerGeorge

Healing through a visualisation meditation and hands-on-healing; a visual experience to understand the roll of the energy body, the aura, to help bring balance and healing to the physical body.

A young couple visited my Healing Centre. The young man, Neil, was suffering from Hepatitis C, leaving him with a failing liver. The doctors only gave him six months to live. When the couple arrived Neil was looking stoney faced, as though he were carrying all the problems of his life and the world on his shoulders.

I thought the best way to proceed was to try to relieve some of the tension first before administering him healing. I suggested that we do a visualisation meditation, balancing his aura energy that surrounds the physical body.

We began the meditation and, as I usually do, I started by taking the attention inward. First by becoming aware of the feet on the ground, checking for tension in the muscles, then working through the rest of the body relieving tension and relaxing the muscles. I then made the couple aware of their breathing by noticing the life energy coming in with each inbreath and the stale energy leaving the body with each outbreath.

By this time the silence had descended on the room, leaving it filled with love and light. I brought their attention to this silence and described some of its magnetic qualities. I got them to try to find the boundaries of this silence. Was it only inside the body or did it extend beyond? I invited them to notice that although this silence is silent, it seems to have liveliness to it, a kind of grain. We played about with this love and light that we all felt deep within our hearts. I then took their attention back to their feet and started to grow roots out of their feet to connect their energy field to the centre of the earth. I opened each of the energy centres in the body - the seven chakras - washing the aura thoroughly with each coloured light in turn.

By this time the energies were really starting to develop. I continued to describe my understanding of how the body worked. I got them to visualise the forever-magical life process. An egg or cell in the mother’s womb being fertilized; the egg dividing again and again, producing many cells from within itself. As the number of cells increases, seeing them start to specialize in all the various components of the body. Some form the skin, some the bone, some the organs of the body. I then drew an analogy between a piece of paper with iron filings on it and the cells in the body. The iron filings are all random until a magnet is brought underneath. Then the life force of the magnet holds all the iron filings in place in a balanced and harmonious way. In the same way the life force in that growing baby holds and co-ordinates all the cells to grow in a balanced and harmonious way.

It is only the stress of living life that upsets the natural balance of the human system. In the case of Neil he seemed to be carrying more than his fair share of life’s burdens with him. So I got him to forgive all those people that had wronged him in his life. I got him also to forgive himself for all the people he had wronged, and asked him to visualize all that stale energy leaving him, returning to the roots deep within the earth. Again we washed the aura with the light from the chakras, visualizing each energy body being repaired. In this visualization we also included his rents and tears; this light was mending all his wounds. The energy bodies being left in perfect balance and perfect harmony one inside the other. In this way forming the energy field that holds every cell in the body in perfect harmony and perfect balance, performing its natural duty in an effortless, natural way.

But the real magic of this visualization meditation came when I started to focus in on his physical problem of the liver.

As soon as I mentioned the word ‘liver’ there was such a presence in the room. Every cell of my body started to tingle and I felt that we had some very powerful healing helper come in from the spirit world to help in this process of healing Neil’s liver. We started the healing in the meditation by thanking all the cells in Neil’s body for all the hard work they had done over the years in keeping the body going and maintaining the peace and harmony that exists within him.

We focused down on the liver itself and thanked all the healthy cells for all the extra hard work they were doing to keep the liver functioning. You could almost hear the waves of appreciation received back from them for this loving thought. With the energy field repaired and the help of all the healthy cells in Neil’s liver, I then asked for all the cells that were not healthy to leave and be replaced with healthy normal ones. I asked for some of the cells to be sent out as scouts to try to find spare material in the body to carry out the repairs needed.

I then started to close the chakras and continue balancing the energy fields in the body. I slowly got the couple to be aware of their surroundings again and gradually become fully conscious of their physical body and their surroundings. We then went on to do the physical hands-on healing and channel the universal energy in the normal way.
