In the early period of the 1900’s, F1 Racing began with primitive racing cars and elder gentleman racing drivers, although the actual Formula One contest did not get underway until the nineteen fifties. Covering Friday, Saturday and Sunday, a F1 Racing weekend is a tough ride, from early testing, to the final laps of the F1 motor race.

The traditional organisation incorporates a F1 race every few weeks. Occasionally the calendar is played with a little bit & there are Formula 1 races on back-to-back weekends, or at times you have to go several weeks before seeing the illustrious Formula One racing drivers again. Are you Risking Real Money in Internet Casinos?

Filed under: Consumer Kicks, Lucky Betting, Online Casino — admin at 1:21 pm on Wednesday, April 30, 2008

If you are into the casino gambling thing yet you have no sufficient fund to book yourself a travel to New Jersey or Las Vegas, then you have a new avenue to turn to–the Internet casinos. Online gambling has popularized over time and its roots can be traced way back in the early phase of the 1990s. With the advantages offered by modern technology, there seems to be no more limitations particularly in line with online gambling. In the real world of gambling, it is but natural to place bets and what is meant here is LARGE bucks of money! Now the major concern in here is–are you indeed risking real money in Internet casinos? According to the Internet casino aficionados, there are no worries with Internet casinos. Online gambling sites normally provide free registrations for those who wish to create their accounts and enjoy the casino games online. You will have to deposit a small amount of money just like what you would normally do to secure a savings account in the bank. For them, being a part of the fuss of Internet casinos is one sure way of getting a hundredfold of rewards while you only get to spend a very little amount of money. They further insist that it is a safer way of spending your money on the bets compared to a real casino game scenario and that the online gambling community expresses some protection on the member players. To top it all, you can feel the touch of being in a casino game without going out of the confines of your home without risking real big money. With a computer and a stable Internet connection and as long as you are aged 21 and above, you can become a part of the fun. It’s up to you though if you will get persuaded by these sweet tongues. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (DVD) Review

Filed under: Movie Tips — admin at 5:40 am on Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Nominated for 28 Emmys, including several for Outstanding Visual Effects, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine continues the rich tradition of the original 1960s Star Trek franchise. Created by former L.A. police officer Gene Roddenberry, the Star Trek TV series morphed into a franchise famous for the unprecedented fanatical devotion of its audience. Lasting only three seasons during its original network run, Star Trek struck gold with its syndicated reruns, launching a number of motion pictures featuring the original cast as well as novels, comic books, collectibles, and reams of Star Trek-related memorabilia. Following on the heels of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), the first Star Trek series spin-off of the original, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine foreshadowed additional spin-offs - Star Trek: Voyager (1995), and Star Trek: Enterprise (2001). Sporting an entirely new cast and crew from its two predecessors, the show focuses on a particular system administered by the Federation instead of the usual Star Trek mission of “exploring strange new worlds”…

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine follows the exploits of the Starfleet crew aboard an abandoned and gutted Cardassian space station orbiting the planet of Bajor. In the aftermath of Cardassian occupation, the Bajorian government invited the Starfleet to oversee the reconstruction of the space station. Deep Space Nine quickly transformed into a teeming city of commerce and a hub for travel (similar to Babylon 5) thanks to the discovery of an unknown wormhole nearby. But the wormhole leads to the Gamma Quadrant, realm of the feared Dominion alliance, which views the wormhole travelers as a threat to its totalitarian grip on power. As such, the Dominion launches an attack against the Federation and its Klingon allies. The subsequent and ongoing war is the basis for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine…

Capt. Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks) is credited with discovering the wormhole, and he oversees the crew of Deep Space Nine as they wage battle to preserve the Federation. Ironically, his colleague, Constable Odo (Rene Auberjonois), is a Changeling - an alien race of “shapeshifters” who lead the Dominion’s united front. Together with the rest of the crew aboard Deep Space Nine, they struggle with internal and external conflicts that threaten to destroy their very way of life…

The Star Trek: Deep Space Nine DVD features a number of exciting episodes including the series premiere “Emissary” in which the recently abandoned Cardassian space station, Terok Nor, is resettled by the Federation at the request of the Bajorians. Capt. Benjamin Sisko takes command and his discovery of the first stable wormhole nearby, a wormhole worshipped by the Bajorians as a god, transforms Sisko into a prophet in the eyes of the Bajorians. Meanwhile, the audience meets the rest of the cast and crew for Deep Space Nine… Other notable episodes from Season 1 include “Move Along Home” in which Quark’s cheating prompts a group of aliens from Gamma Quadrant to exact revenge on the crew of Deep Space Nine, and “Dramatis Personae” in which an indwelling by aliens transforms Sisko and Kira into enemies of the crew…

Music Therapy: Can Music Really “Soothe The Savage Beast?”

Filed under: House Of Psychology — admin at 4:58 am on Wednesday, April 30, 2008

It has long been suggested that “music soothes the savage
beast.” But is this true? And if it is, does this have any
implication where humans are concerned? The answer, apparently,
is yes. To illustrate this, researchers point to the different
physiological changes that take place within the human body in
response to different sounds and noises. A loud noise that
shatters the silence sets the human heart racing and stimulates
a rush of adrenaline that prepares you for flight. In contrast a
soft, soothing sound helps us to relax.

Music therapy has, in fact, been around for thousands of years.
Nearly four thousand years ago the Hebrew Scriptures recorded
that the boy who would later become King David was hired by his
predecessor to play the harp to calm King Saul when he would go
into a rage. Likewise, the use of music therapy is found in the
writings of ancient civilizations such as Egypt, China, India,
Greece and Rome.

More recently, scientists have been studying the effects of
music therapy and have documented changes in respiratory rates,
blood pressure, and pulse in response to musical stimuli.
Likewise, researchers in the realm of music therapy have found
that the use of music therapy can be effective in areas as
diverse as IQ and recovery rates, pain management and weight
loss.

Some object that this sounds too good to be true. How can music
therapy change something like pain management? Researchers tell
us that the reason music therapy works is based on how we hear.
Sound is little more than vibrations in the air that are picked
up by the inner ear and transferred to the brain which is a key
component in your nervous system and controls the functions of
the body and the brain responds to the stimuli that it is given.

In light of this, music therapy can and often is used in a wide
variety of applications. One common application for music
therapy is in working with autistic individuals because research
has found that music can help autistic children to express
themselves. Likewise, music therapy has been found to help
individuals with physical disabilities to develop better motor
skills.

With music therapy, individuals with high levels of anxiety can
be helped to express suppressed emotions thereby discharging
anger, or enabling the individual to express the joy they would
not otherwise be able to express. Likewise, research has found
that music therapy can help lower the anxiety levels of hospital
patients who find themselves facing frightening prospects and in
an unfamiliar environment. Furthermore, music therapy has been
found to help medical professionals with pain management such
that they have been able to reduce pain medication by as much as
one half by helping to stimulate the production of the body’s
own pain killers, called endorphins.

Music therapy can come is a wide variety of forms. In some cases
it’s as simple as having the individual listen to particular
music. In other cases music therapy requires a more interactive
approach, having the individual respond to the music either in
dance or using some other form of expression. But in its many
forms, music therapy has often been found to be beneficial.

How not to overpay for seats on a plane

Filed under: Travel Portal — admin at 1:03 am on Wednesday, April 30, 2008

As a respected travel journalist, the question I get asked most often is how to get cheap airfare. The answer I give does indeed surprise many people, because there aren’t really the kinds of secrets there once was. Just like civilians, I usually start by going to the airfare booking sites, but some of those are much better than others.

Kayak and SideStep are now the same company and both of those are excellent places to start your search. The beauty of their system is they basically check every other airfare site they can find on the internet that sells tickets from your city pair, and then they let you sort through the results so you can find the best ticket for you. Sometimes the lowest price seat isn’t the best choice because of scheduling reasons or layovers and such, so having the flexibility to sift through all the different flights with just a few clicks is a good thing.

After I check Kayak I’ll almost always check Priceline because they are the cheapest of the regular booking sites, and occasionally they can offer prices even lower than Kayak. Once you’ve checked at least two sites you can book with confidence.

Road Maintenance

Filed under: Car Transport — admin at 5:37 pm on Tuesday, April 29, 2008

A wise man has once said, “To judge a country’s economic state, first review its road conditions.” Undoubtedly, this well-known saying has logic behind it, which we all are aware of. Thus, it is imperative that we must emphasize Road Maintenance in our socio-development prospects.

Road Maintenance offers several direct and indirect benefits, like smoother journeys, lesser consumption of gas and availability of roads for a longer duration of time. It usually involves two major maintenance aspects - Corrective Maintenance that includes repair work like Pot Hole Patching, Crack Filling and Sweeping, or Preventive Maintenance like Crack Sealing and Surface Correction to ensure slow deterioration of roads.

Pot Hole Patching is the most cost-effective Corrective Maintenance activity. It is also called Reseal Treatment, in which a layer of bitumen is sprayed onto the existing road. Then stone chips are spread over this layer and subsequently rolled with a road roller. The other method is called Asphalt Resurfacing, in which hot mixed asphalt is used to correct surface deficiencies and restore surface evenness. Besides Pot Hole Patching, one must also concentrate on minor reshaping and minor stabilizing before these issues turn into a much bigger headache.

Crack Sealing is another Road Maintenance activity. Sealants and asphalt are used to fill pavement joints and cracks to prevent water from penetrating into the surface, thus adding more life to the road. Another form of Preventive Maintenance is Surface Correction. In this maintenance activity, a thin film of surfacing is made to improve surface integrity and waterproofing.

Everybody wants to see his neighborhood neat and clean. Taking care of this issue, one must emphasis on Sweeping / Street Cleaning to remove debris from streets, reduce pollutants and reduce maintenance costs that governments spend, usually to keep drainage systems clean.

Maintenance provides detailed information about maintenance, aircraft maintenance, car maintenance, equipment maintenance and more. Maintenance is the sister site of Pontoon Boat Lifts.

Gum Infections, Dental Infections Directly Related to the Parient’s Calcium Metabolism

Filed under: Health Parlor — admin at 10:45 am on Tuesday, April 29, 2008

When more supporting bone was lost and the pyorrhea pockets became deeper, the overall conditions and outlook changed remarkably. The surprise was the number of systemic body changes found to take place. Among them were the considerable amount of absorption of bone; the occurrence or non-occurrence of dental caries (cavities); changes in the uric acid level; and, in addition, changes in the blood and saliva of the ionic calcium level, and its urea nitrogen content.

In time it became apparent the presence or absence of of gum infections was directly related to the patient’s calcium metabolism. When the ionic level of calcium in the blood was higher than normal, the supporting gum and bone tended to be absorbed away more easily in the presence of irritation.

At the same time, studies of saliva revealed it to be more alkaline than usual when periodontal disease was active. Another big surprise occurred when the contents of the pus pockets were found to be very alkaline, having a pH as high as 7.7, when dentists would assume it be acid. The pH of the blood and saliva when normal is 7.4.

One would think that when teeth affected by periodontal disease are extracted there would be some difficulties with healing. Quite the contrary, sockets developed good blood clots and healed rapidly, without pain or the development of a dry socket. On the other hand, those cases marked by the formation of the dense bone of condensing osteitis below the tooth’s root end proved to be painful, healed slowly, they developed blood clots that easily broke down, and many of these cases developed the dreaded dry socket. An analysis of the saliva of such patients showed it to be lower in alkalinity and the blood lower in ionic calcium.

It should be more apparent now that the cases mentioned involve two distinct types of individuals. This was borne out even more dramatically when two different types of extraction sockets were examined under a microscope. Here, too, the disparity proved so definite as to be of diagnostic value.

The Sockets of teeth extracted because of pyorrhea were found to contain primarily polymorphonuclear white blood cells having several lobes. Many granules (granulocytes) were seen under the microscope and these cells showed rapid movements. The white cells were seen to be doing their work of engulfing the bacteria, and only a few of the organisms escaped entrapment.

Sockets of teeth extracted for root end infections when condensing osteitis was present had only a few white blood cells(leucocytes) and granules, but large numbers of organisms outside these cells.

These research efforts demonstrated that as alkalinity went down, ionic calcium level went up. Such cases were accompanied by acute inflammatory reactions to irritation agents with destruction of gum attachments and absorption of alveolar bone.

Dentists looked upon pyorrhea as being primarily an infectious disease at the time of the Price studies, and many still do today. You can see from the data that, although bacteria are present, pyorrhea is not due to a specific infection but, rather, involves definite systemic body conditions. The factors were found to be related to a person’s specific susceptibility and biological inheritance; that is, they are connected in a very difinite way to one’s own biological defense and ability of the immune system.

Empowering Customer Service Vital

Filed under: Economy Of Commerce — admin at 12:25 pm on Monday, April 28, 2008

It never fails to amaze me how many companies have
employees who are empowered to offer former customers
wonderful incentives to lure them back, yet their customer
service representatives have the ability to offer virtually
nothing to convince an unhappy customer to stay.

Powerless, these CSRs often actually ignore customers’
requests and declarations of their intent to leave, even
encouraging them to seek out another company!

They often repeat the few phrases they’re allowed to say
over and over again, further infuriating the customers.

I recently interviewed the CEO of a mattress company who
told me that customer complaints never reach him because
his employees are empowered to, within reason, give the
customer what will keep him happy. His employees are
happier too because they believe the company trusts them
to make sound decision.

Sadly, that company is one-in-a-million today. If others
would follow his example, there would a lot less need for
those employees who call former customers because there
would be far fewer former customers to begin with.

When I worked in fast food as a teenager, giving an unhappy
customer a free apple turnover and having her leave happy
was common place. Today, fast food employees, like others
in customer service, are allowed to honor only coupons and
deals for which there are pre-programmed keys on their
registers.

It seems that companies today would rather lose loyal
customers for life than allow their foot soldiers in customer
service to toss them an apple pie.

Recently, we had just such as experience with our satellite
dish company. After more than four years as a loyal, paying
customer, we noticed a problem with our reception. We
asked to have someone come take a look at it, and we were
told it would be $100. That is the only option customer
service was empowered to offer. We announced that we
could get brand new satellite equipment for free from the
company’s competitor, and we were told to go ahead and
switch, which we did.

After we switched, the first company called to ask why we
left, and we told our story. The employee agreed that “after
four years, we should have fixed it for free.” Too late. We’ve
signed a new one-year agreement and we couldn’t be
happier with our new, free digital video recorder.

On the flip side, we have no unresolved customer
complaints at our business because, very simply, we do our
best to keep our customers happy from the beginning. Sure,
we make mistakes and we run out of things, but we always
do what it takes to make things right, plus a little extra
something for the customer. That attitude builds long-time,
successful customer relationships. Here are some tips for
empowering your customer service department:

1.) Depending on the nature of the complaint, arm your
customer service employees with the ability to offer
incentives to unhappy customers to encourage them not to
leave. Allow them to offer at least half what the people who
call former customers can offer.

For example, if you normally charge for a service call, but
you’re facing the prospect of losing a 10-year customer,
allow the customer service representative to offer half off.

2.) If your company screwed up, and your customer calls you
on it, allow your customer service people to admit that a
mistake was made, apologize and offer something to make
up for it - a free month of service, a coupon for a discount on
a future order.

Nothing is more aggravating than having someone
apologize without admitting any wrong doing (i.e. “I’m sorry
you feel that way.” Or “I’m sorry you’re upset about that.”) Let
them say, “I’m sorry, we were wrong. What can we do to
make it up to you?” What ever happened to the motto “The
customer is always right”?

3.) Toss the scripts. Giving customer service people lists of
things to say to unhappy customers turns your people into
nothing more than robots. With today’s voice recognition
technology, you may as well use an automated response
system.

Train your customer service people how to act like human
beings. Provide them with the kind of conflict-resolution
training they need to turn unhappy customers into people
who at least believe your company cares about their
problem and wants to help them.

4.) Offer incentives to customer service people who retain
unhappy customers.

For example, tape your calls, and once a month give an
award to the customer service representative who does the
best job turning angry customers into happy ones.

5.) Don’t’ wait for the customer to insist on speaking to a
manager. If the customer service representative’s authority
to offer a solution is not enough to retain the customer, it
should be SOP for the representative to request time to
consult a supervisor and possibly bring them into the
discussion.

What You Need To Know About Baseball Gloves

Filed under: Lots Of Sports Resources — admin at 9:52 am on Monday, April 28, 2008

Baseball gloves have been around for years. The first baseball glove was worn on the field by Al Spalding and others in 1876. In 1920 the first Rawlings baseball glove with a natural pocket was worn on the baseball field.

Baseball gloves have evolved a lot since those times. Did you know that Bill Mazeroski dug an outhouse to come up with the money to buy his first baseball glove? Brooks Robinson kept his glove fingers stiff with tongue depressors. There are many stories about players and their baseball gloves.

Baseball gloves are still an important part of the game and it’s crucial that you find the right one for you. Consider the price, you can find baseball gloves for $15 all the way up to $200 or more. If you plan to use the glove for a long time it might be a good idea to pay a little more and get a good quality glove. If you are buying the glove for a younger player who will need to change baseball gloves as they grow you might want to think about a less expensive baseball glove.

When choosing baseball gloves the feel is important. If it doesn’t feel good you will not be able to play at your peak performance.

You can buy baseball gloves in many different sizes for all ages, positions and games. Baseball gloves as measured by their “pattern size”. Youth baseball gloves range from 8″ to about 12″ and adults are usually in the 12″ to 13″ range.

Baseball gloves are available according to positions: Catchers, first base, infield and outfield. There are also different types of webs and backs.

There are many brands and hundreds of models to choose from when buying baseball gloves. Players often have their own personal favorites. You can even have a handcrafted, personalized glove made.

Baseball gloves have a history and are still an important part of the equipment when playing today.

Pull Down Attic Ladders: Easy Access To Your Roof Space

Filed under: Living With Home Improvement — admin at 10:48 am on Sunday, April 27, 2008

Pull down attic ladders are an absolute bonus if you are someone looking to utilize that extra roof space in your home. So many people these days are opting to extend on their homes instead of buying somewhere new. This often saves them lots of money because they don’t have to spend a lot on buying and selling costs. But what is even better and cheaper than extending is utilizing that unused roof space for another room or two.

Once you have turned your roof space into that extra needed room or rooms you will need easy and safe access to it. This is where pull down attic ladders come into play. A ladder such as this is very compact and strong, either made from fiberglass, metal or wood. There are sliding styles or folding versions depending on what suits your situation. They fold up very neatly and are unobtrusive if fitted correctly. You can even have covers for them.

I personally think that these pull down attic ladders are a fabulous invention. Just about anyone in the family can handle pulling them down and putting them back up. Of course you don’t necessarily need to only use them for obtaining extra roof space as many people build houses now with an open loft or balcony that they need to access. These ladders are perfect for that also.

I know lots of people who use lofts in their barns and garages to store away many different things that they do not use regularly. Having this type of ladder is not only convenient and safe but is very space saving in itself when used for this purpose. The other good thing about these ladders is that you can have them installed by a professional or you can buy them in kit form and install them yourself for a much cheaper price.
